Systems like confocal microscopes, flow cytometers, or DNA sequencers strongly rely on the development of laser systems. In most of these systems multiple lasers are being used to obtain the desired results. Most users are not interested in the laser technology, for them the measurement result is all that counts. Downtime due to mis-alignment of lasers or maintenance means loss of valuable measurement time. Our optical chip technology combines different optical functions for specific applications. Different laser wavelengths can be combined in one single mode Polarization output. This will provide a number of advantages over most commonly used free-space optics. Some of these advantages are:

  • Increased stability; after installation, no alignment is needed
  • Increased selectivity
  • Reduced form factor; a complete lasersystem fits in the size of a shoe box
  • Reduced Maintenance; laser replacement can be done by non optical trained people

All the necessary laser light comes out one single mode polarization maintaining fiber that can be plugged directly in the “life science system”

Light plays an important role in the growth of plants. Measuring the amount of absorption in, reflection of and/or transmission through a sample gives a lot of information on the state it is in.  Being able to measure this light spectrally (per color) gives a lot of information. We offer products able to measure this light.

Sorting is another application where multiple lasers are being used. Different lasers need to reach the product at the same time and spot. Sorters can be placed in harsh environment and are most commonly used by people that do not have optical skills. As most applications are seasonal, down time can be crucial. By using fiber technology, the laser system can be placed outside the harsh environment, and replacing a laser can be done without the use of a laser specialist.
