Technology
During the last decade all the major companies that manufacture lasers, have developed compact and robust solid-state lasers. In most applications the large and complex gas laser systems have been replaced by this new easy to use technology. With the addition of an optical fiber as output, simplifies the way the laser light is transported to the desired position in an optical system.
XiO Photonics embraced this trend of miniaturization and integration. Our first product makes combining the output of different fiber coupled lasers simple, stable, and robust. Instead of using bulky, free space, optics that need frequent realignment, we make it “plug & play”.
XiO Photonics products are based on compact optical-chips that integrate a number of complex functions in a single device. We have exclusive access to proprietary optical chip technology enabling us to enter the interesting domain of visible light applications. By using this integrated optical technology we have developed a filter concept that efficiently combines several laser wavelengths.
More complex optical features can be added, depending on the needs for the application. An example of an optical chip is shown in the picture below.

To produce robust and stable devices that meet the requirements of our customers we put a lot of effort in the development of the assembly and packaging of our integrated optical products. The visible wavelengths that are used, and especially the 405 nm require new assembly and packaging concepts. We have developed this technology for are current product and we keep improving this to ensure we have the best method available to meet our customers high requirements
